Statement from Chicago Housing Authority

Effective immediately, the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) Board of Commissioners has appointed Matthew Brewer to serve as the agency’s Operating Chairman until a Chief Executive Officer is approved by the Board. Brewer has been a Commissioner on CHA’s Board since 2013. He was named Vice Chairman in November 2021 and has been acting as Interim Chairman since October 31, 2024. During the transition period, Brewer will focus on ensuring stability, continuity and consistency of operations within the agency.
